Training
Our practice is an Approved Training Practice, approved by Nottingham University.
GP Registrars
We train fully qualified doctors who wish to specialise in general practice. These Doctors are known as GP Registrars.
Our GP registrars will have had 2-4 years of experience as a qualified hospital doctor working in various specialities. They consult patients on their own, under the mentorship of our trainer, Dr Young. Occasionally we ask permission to video a consultation. You will always be asked in advance and are given the option not to take part, and this will not affect your care in any way. No recording will be taken without your consent and the camera will be switched off on request. These videos are used only for educational purposes with the doctor doing the consultation and are destroyed after use.
Medical Students
There are two kinds of students present at our practice – Year 1 Medical students are sometimes attached to the practice for 2 – 3 weeks as part of their training and may be present in your consultations with the GP. If you do not wish a student to be present during your consultation, please inform the receptionist or the GP.
Year 3 students will consult with patients independently. This gives them clinical experience that is a necessary part of becoming a GP. The benefits of seeing a Year 3 student for your appointment is that you will also see their supervising GP afterwards. This means you will get a longer appointment (up to 40 minutes) and you will get to see the student and one of our GP partners in the same visit.
