COVID vaccination record, when given abroad

Message from the CCG 27-July-2021

Currently there is not a central mechanism for capturing details of overseas Covid vaccines, and only vaccines delivered in the UK can be accepted as evidence for UK Covid certification/ the NHS Covid Pass.

A technical solution to support the recording of vaccinations overseas in the NHS immunisation management service (NIMS) is in development, and we will provide an update as soon as possible.

COVID vaccination certification

We are unable to issue this certificate at the practice.

Please see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/demonstrating-your-covid-19-vaccination-status-when-travelling-abroad for further information.

Proof of your vaccination status will be available on the NHSapp

The NHSapp can be downloaded from https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/nhs-app/id1388411277 for iPhone or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nhs.online.nhsonline for android.

Alternatively, you can call the NHS helpline on 119 (from 17 May) and ask for a letter to be posted to you. This must be at least 5 days after you’ve completed your course of the vaccine, the letter may take up to 5 days to reach you.

Blood Tests

We have a VERY LIMITED capacity for blood tests to be performed at the practice.

To be seen quicker, we are asking all patients to use the online SwiftQueue system to book appointments for blood tests at alternative locations such as Royal Derby Hospital in the first instance.

What are the benefits of self care?

Self-care is good for you and for the NHS. There are lots of benefits to self-care. We believe it’s:

Quicker - no need to wait for a GP appointment. You can buy the medicines you need over the counter at your local pharmacy or supermarket and have them ready to use at home.
Easier - many treatments can be bought without the need for a prescription at your local pharmacy or supermarket, often for much less than a prescription charge.
Simple - advice and information about self-care is widely available online. You can also call into any pharmacy for advice on the best treatment for your minor illness.
Considerate - self-care helps relieve pressures on GP practices, A&E
